What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?
Hiking has always been what I enjoy most in my leisure time. It’s definitely not a leisure activity and as I’ve said, I’m very close to hiking being what I do for employment, too!
Something about being in the open air, something about survival being my only job, something about the beautiful surroundings, something about hiking is what makes me feel alive. I thought I’d lose this when I found out I have cancer, but instead I’ve learned that hiking is better than I knew – I can do the same things, but sometimes I’m slower, sometimes it’s much more difficult. This has made me more compassionate, not just on the trail, but everywhere. My compassion is not perfected, but I’m pretty sure if I hike more, I’ll get better at it!
Also, Christmas is in 11 months. Happy hiking!
