Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.
Traditions are practices that are passed down through generations. “The fact of being passed on this way.” I don’t have a whole lot of traditions. We don’t have a whole lot of traditions. It’s possible we have none. If the boys and I were going to have traditions, I/we would have had to create them because there was not one damn thing from my family of origin that I was going to willingly carry into my own life. But, we didn’t. I didn’t ever want my boys to make decisions “because we have always done it this way.” I have always wanted their decisions to be based upon what brings them joy and what helps them feel safe in this world. I think it worked. No one feels pressure to provide or be be present at certain times or for certain things. Our foundation is just love and forgiveness and support and never giving up on ourselves or one another through all the phases a person goes through to find themselves.
